2019-2020 High School District Science Fair Results

The C&I department would like to congratulate all the students and sponsors that participated at the 2019 - 2020 High School District Science Fair that took place on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Rivera ECHS. We had 210 projects with a total of 329 students competing in 22 categories. Attached is the list of the students that placed first through fifth in their respective categories. The top three projects in each category are eligible to advance to the Regional competition taking place on Feb. 14 -15, 2020 at the UTRGV Brownsville Campus pending IRB/SRC approval.

We would like to thank Ms. Norma Canales, Principal at Rivera ECHS, the Administrative Team, the Science Department, and Staff for hosting this event. They did an awesome job. A special thank you to Emilio Barrientos, Haydee Torres and Farely Trevino, for helping coordinate this event.

Early Notification of Voluntary Resignation Incentive Program - Approved

At a Regular Board Meeting on December 10, 2019, the BISD Board of Trustees voted to open an Early Notification of Voluntary Resignation Incentive Program for all non-retired/rehired employees at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. To qualify for the supplemental payment, employees with 15 or more years of service must hand-deliver a Letter of Resignation signed by the employee and supervisor, to the BISD Human Resources Department starting on December 11, 2019, and ending January 31, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.

The Early Resignation Incentive Payment specified shall be calculated as follows:

Employee with 15 - 19 Years of Service	$ 2,000
Employee with 20 - 24 Years of Service	$ 3,000
Employee with 25 - 29 Years of Service	$ 4,000
Employee with 30 - 34 Years of Service	$ 5,000
Employee with 35 - 39 Years of Service	$ 7,500
Employees with 40 or more Years of Service	$ 10,000

Middle School District Science Fair Winners

View the winners of the Middle School District Science Fair held on Dec. 7, 2019 at Lopez ECHS hosted by Lucio MS. The top three winners per category will advance to the Regional Science Fair pending regional scientific review committee (SRC) approval. The Regional Science Fair will be held on Feb. 15, 2020 at UTRGV Brownsville Campus.
