BISD requests TEA to Extend Virtual Learning after Holidays

Superintendent of Schools Dr. René Gutiérrez and other Region One superintendents have signed and sent a letter to Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath and addressed concerns of possible spikes in COVID-19 cases after the Christmas and New Year Holiday. The letter highlights detailed requests and concerns to extend one hundred percent virtual learning for up to four weeks after the Christmas break in January 2021.

Dr. Gutiérrez has also petitioned the Texas Urban Council of Superintendents to allow flexibility to close down as conditions warrant at BISD.
