Campus Targeted Improvement Plans

Campus Targeted Improvement Plans are hereby posted per Texas Education Agency requirements for State Accountability for schools in improvement. The plans are being posted as part of the notice for the required Public Hearing on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 during the Brownsville ISD Board of Trustees meeting. The public may provide comments on plans during the public hearing prior to Board of Trustees approval of these plans.

The Terrel H. Bell Award honors school principals for their outstanding work and the vital role they play in guiding their students and schools to excellence, frequently under challenging circumstances. The award is part of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

Enroll in the Employee Sick Leave Bank

The BISD Human Resources Department has announced the enrollment period for the Employee Sick Leave Bank, October 1-31, 2019. If a BISD employee or family member has a catastrophic illness, the employee may withdraw days from the bank. New members must complete an application form and have one local day to contribute. Enrollment is automatic for current members. A form must be completed to discontinue membership in the Employee Sick Leave Bank. For more information, call (956) 548-8051 or 548-8031. 2019-2020 Proposed Tax Rate and Tax Levy

During a Special Called Meeting the BISD Board of Trustees voted to lower the tax rate for the 2019 – 2020 s
chool year from $1.27 [rounded off] down to $1.19 [rounded off] per $1,000 of appraised taxable value. This means, for example, that a person whose home has a taxable value of $100,000 would be paying $78 less than the prior year. Attached are slides with additional information regarding the approved tax levy.
