Space Settlement Design Tournament

August 23rd to 25th found 80 BISD early college high school students gathered at Veterans ECHS for the first ever Space Settlement Design Tournament (SSDT) run as a simulation. The event is part of a growing collaboration between Brownsville ISD, Expanding Frontiers, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the City of Brownsville. The event was hosted as an opportunity for the International Space Settlement Design Tournament staff and volunteers to come to Brownsville and work with BISD students and faculty. The expansion of space-related business and careers in south Texas is exciting for many as evidenced by the strong turnout at the recent grand opening of the Expanding Frontiers site at the Pan American Building and the grand opening of the UTRGV STARGATE facility close to Boca Chica Beach. It's Official: BISD Earns an "A" Rating from the Texas Education Agency!

The Texas Education Agency has announced that Brownsville ISD has received an “A” rating under the Texas Accountability Rating System! On behalf of myself and the board of trustees, we want to congratulate all of the campus administrators, teachers, staff, parents and our wonderful students of BISD. Returning Student Packet / Paquete de Reingreso del Estudiante • English - RETURNING Student • Español - REINGRESO de Estudiante SNAPCODE INFORMATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS A Snapcode is needed to complete the returning student packet. Snapcodes were emailed in June 2019 and letters sent to families without an email on file with BISD. If you did not receive your student's Snapcode at that time, please contact your child’s campus beginning July 25th for Elementary campuses and July 17th for secondary campuses INFORMACIÓN DE SNAPCODE PARA REINGRESO DE LOS ESTUDIANTES Se necesita un código (Snapcode) para completar el paquete del estudiante que regresa. Los códigos instantáneos se enviaron por correo electrónico en junio de 2019 y cartas se enviaron a las familias sin un correo electrónico en el archivo de BISD. New Administrative Leadership for BISD

At a Special Called Board Meeting the BISD trustees officially hired and welcomed Dr. Rene Gutierrez as the district's new superintendent.  Dr. Gutierrez was accompanied by family and friends as he accepted the role and pledged to guide and strengthen the district towards greater success.  The Board also recognized and thanked Dr. Sylvia R. Hatton for her outstanding service as Interim Superintendent.

Teacher & Professional Hiring Schedule and Classified Personnel

On Monday, June 24, 2019, the BISD Board of Trustees approved the 2019-2020 Teacher & Professional Hiring Schedule. For details, view and download the complete hiring schedule here. Classified Personnel were approved a $1.00 increase to their 2018-2019 hourly rate for the 2019-2020 school year.
