Space Settlement Design Tournament

August 23rd to 25th found 80 BISD early college high school students gathered at Veterans ECHS for the first ever Space Settlement Design Tournament (SSDT) run as a simulation. The event is part of a growing collaboration between Brownsville ISD, Expanding Frontiers, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the City of Brownsville. The event was hosted as an opportunity for the International Space Settlement Design Tournament staff and volunteers to come to Brownsville and work with BISD students and faculty. The expansion of space-related business and careers in south Texas is exciting for many as evidenced by the strong turnout at the recent grand opening of the Expanding Frontiers site at the Pan American Building and the grand opening of the UTRGV STARGATE facility close to Boca Chica Beach. It's Official: BISD Earns an "A" Rating from the Texas Education Agency!

The Texas Education Agency has announced that Brownsville ISD has received an “A” rating under the Texas Accountability Rating System! On behalf of myself and the board of trustees, we want to congratulate all of the campus administrators, teachers, staff, parents and our wonderful students of BISD.
