BISD Schools Named in Texas Honor Roll
Fourteen BISD schools have been named by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) to the Texas Honor Roll. This honor roll recognizes public schools for demonstrating consistently higher levels of student academic achievement, for improvement over time, and for reduction in achievement gaps. With regard to high schools, the Honor Roll recognition also addresses measures of college readiness.
The 2018 – 2019 Honor Roll schools are:
Brite Elementary, Burns Elementary, Garden Park Elementary, Keller Elementary, Ortiz Elementary, Paredes Elementary, Peña Elementary, Pullam Elementary, Yturria Elementary, Oliveira Middle School, Stillman Middle School, Brownsville Early College High School, Hanna Early College High School, and Veteran’s Memorial Early College High School.
Among the success factors identified at these schools were:
• Evidence-based instructional practices
• A defined system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students
• An investment in human capital
• Maintenance of data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance
• Resources and guidance to support schools' efforts in preparing all students for college and career.
These schools will now be featured on the ERP’s website for educators who are seeking high-performing schools whose success can be replicated. Congratulations to all of these campuses for earning this distinction.
